Targoviste, former capital of ancient kingdom, between 1396 - 1714, held for about three centuries the statute of the most important economic, politic, military and cultural city of Valachia.Today, Targoviste is a modern city, highly industrialized, steel industry being one of forefront industry.

OTELINOX was established on June 01 1974, following an international tender won by Japanese companies NISSHIN STEEL CO Ltd. for manufacturing of cold rolled stainless steel strips and sheets and DAIDO STEEL Co for manufacturing of hot rolled small profiles and wire rod. Both production units have been commissioned in 1979 and respectively 1980.

In October 1997, SAMSUNG DEUTSCHLAND GmbH - a branch of SAMSUNG CORPORATION Korea, has acquired the main package of shares (51%) of S.C. OTELINOX S.A. At present Samsung Deutschland GmbH holds 94,2578194118% of OTELINOX social capital

SAMSUNG dedicate itself to rebuild OTELINOX, so this will have, in the nearest future, an important role in the Romanian economy, as well as within SAMSUNG group. A large program of investments took of, aiming at upgrading of equipment but also new investments. In 2002, a large investment (18 mil USD) was finalized, by creating a new production section, designed to extend the production range by thin and ultra-thin stainless steel narrow strips. At the end of 2006 another important investment was completed, OTELINOX manufacturing now stainless steel welded pipes in a brand new workshop.

The 892 OTELINOX employees are trained in the spirit of permanent improvement, many of them being involved in Six Sigma projects, a quality system implemented in OTELINOX since 2004.

At present, OTELINOX owns a production capacity for stainless steel strips and sheets of 60.000 to/ year and a capacity for small profile and wire-rod of 100.000 to/year.

It is worthy to note that OTELINOX is the only producer of stainless steel products in the former communist countries in Europe. The products are being sold especially in Europe, but also in Asia, North America, etc.

The products can be delivered either by land (Targoviste is located 80 km of Bucharest, 140 km of Bulgarian border and 263 km Moldova and Ukraine, or by the sea (300 km of Constanta - Black Sea).

In future, OTELINOX aims to develop its field of activity, by creating high value added products and further development of domestic and international market.
